I had envisioned this image of the Sleeping Giant days prior before making my way to Thunder Bay. I wanted to capture this vast landscape in all of its natural beauty. I knew the sunrise would be ideal to silhouette this landscape to showcase it from head to toe. When I first laid eyes on this back in 2023, I was amazed that such beauty exists.
Back then, I was new to the Canadian side and I was just blown away when I saw it. I knew that I wanted to capture this but I know that a single image wasn’t gonna work for me. This panorama showcases the raw natural beauty under the early morning winter conditions. Lake Superior was still frozen under these sub zero temperatures.
The morning light was highlighting the vast colors and atmosphere during this moment that it didn’t even seem real to me.
